As of July 2007, Dr. Vredevoogd is taking a sabbatical and will not be treating pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismology patients at Great Lakes Eye Care for at least two years.  Her husband has taken a two-year expatriate job assignment in Bulgaria, and she has taken this opportunity to pursue work with orphans in Bulgaria who have strabismus and other ophthalmologic problems.  It is her hope that she will be able to reestablish opportunities to work at Great Lakes Eye Care in the future; but in the meantime, the doctors at GLEC are happy to continue to serve her patients.
