A lettter from the Doctors and Staff at Great Lakes Surgery Center, which serves as the primary surgical facility for Great Lakes Eye Care –––

"In early January, Great Lakes Surgery Center had severe water damage to our surgical areas, including our operating rooms and sterilization areas. Due to this damage, all of our sterile flooring needs to be replaced. This type of flooring is made specifically for sterile surgerical areas and is not readily available.

Patient safety and infection control is our main priority. Until this repair process and subsequent safety inspections are completed, we will be unable to perform most surgeries. The timeline for this process will become clearer as time goes by. We are hopeful that we will be able to fully re-open sometime in March, but it is possible that the repairs could take longer than estimated.

In anticipation that we will be fully functional in late March or early April, we are currently scheduling surgeries beginning Monday, March 30 and after. For patients who are desiring to have their surgery earlier in March, Great Lakes Eye Care's surgical schedulers have created a list and will be contacting those patients as we learn a more exact timeline for our reopening.

Thank you for your understanding as we do everything we can to take care of this unexpected problem as quickly as we can."
